Karen’s Promotion at Main Line Health

On October 3rd, my wife Karen was promoted to Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer of Main Line Health. She has served at MLH for over 16 years, first as Assistant CIO,the VP/CIO, and now SVP/CIO. Click here to read the email announcement that Jack Lynch, MLH CEO, sent out to the management team (email names have been redacted).

Just today, Karen is returning from the CHIME CIO Forum in San Antonio, where she participated in a panel discussing "Meaningful Use" of Electronic Health Records. Meaningful Use can result in the recovery from the government of funds spent for electronic health records. Her comments were widely reported, e.g., From Fierce Health IT (a weekly news magazine for the healthcare industry information technology sector):

Meaningful Use can cost millions, even after EHR purchase Karen Thomas, vice president and CIO of Main Line Health, said her system has spent between $3 million and $4 million on its Meaningful Use effort across inpatient and ambulatory care. More from FierceHealthIT.
